Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences

Andrea Koenigsberg

What influenced your decision to pursue biomedical research?
My undergraduate biochemistry class and professor was key. It was the first time I was able to appreciate how creative and ingenious different laboratory techniques are and the amount of information that can be gained from different types of experiments.

How is the environment at Sackler helping you achieve your professional goals?
Sackler provides an incredibly collaborative and supportive environment that makes me feel simultaneously comfortable and challenged. Taken together, these qualities create the perfect environment for me to develop as a scientist.

What type of positions are you considering after graduation?
I am interested in the intersection between business and science and am looking to work for a biotech consulting firm.

Why did you choose Sackler over other graduate schools?
The combination of its location in Boston and the collegial environment at Sackler, especially within the Microbiology program were important.

What's your favorite way to relax after classes?
I like to go for a run along the Charles.

What's your favorite thing about being in Boston and why?
How close everything is! I think I can get almost anywhere I want to in 30 minutes, either walking or on the T.

What is your favorite Boston restaurant?
Toro in the South End! Amazing cocktails and tapas.
