Dear Sackler Community,

It was a good week for our mission to increase diversity and inclusive excellence at our school. Last Monday, Najla Fiaturi (PDD) and Matthew Gooden (MBS candidate) hosted a 3 hour event called Let’s Talk: Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement. It was a highly successful event and kudos to Najla and Matthew for taking the initiative to apply successfully for an award from the Bridging Differences Initiatives from the Office of the Provost. On Tuesday our Chief Diversity Officer, Joyce Sackey hosted The Women of Color Academy Soiree here. This well attended event with about 50 attendees from 20 local institutions addressed inclusive excellence, what that looks like and the barriers to achieving it at our institutions. Finally, we were informed that a grant from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund was awarded to us to develop lectures, workshops and events to develop Cultural Awareness for Career Success that will start this Fall.
