Infection with Candida albicans can have devastating effects in immuno-suppressed individuals. In a study conducted in her lab, Carol Kumamoto and colleagues found that dietary fat can affect colonization with Candida in the gut of pre-term infants. This work highlights one aspect of the complex nature of the gut microbiome.
