Associate Dean’s Message - January 28, 2019
Dear Sackler Community,
We are now entering the admissions interview time of the year. Over the next six weeks we will have a number of interview days starting with Immunology today. New this year, we will also host a revisit day for admitted applicants on March 14. More details will be announced shortly. As we welcome these students to campus over the next few weeks, you are our ambassadors. We have the opportunity to shape the future of Sackler through their passion for science. I look forward to meeting these students and hope you do as well. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to host, attend the events and engage with our guests.
In my welcome to the applicants, I speak of our small caring community of learners, faculty and staff who work individually with students to ensure they reach their goals. I am reflecting on the “caring” aspect of that statement in light of Microbiology’s recent diversity and inclusion workshop. The workshop has generated a great deal of discussion and I have spoken to a number of students about our cultural climate. I welcome this discussion as a sign of our openness and commitment to each other. Let us all continue these discussions to provide a more inclusive, welcoming and supportive community.
Daniel Volchok, Associate Dean
