Associate Dean's Message - October 22, 2018

Monday, October 22, 2018
Exciting events are coming up. Attend the Charlton Lecture and the Charlton Poster Competition.
Sackler Building

Next week, on Wednesday and Thursday, the annual Charlton Lecture and Post Competition will be held. This is a major event that brings Sackler together with the Medical, Dental and Veterinary Schools in support of the research done across the campus. We are pleased that 22 Sackler students and 16 Medical/Dental/Veterinary students will participate in the poster competition. On Wednesday, October 31 from 10 am – 12:30 pm in Sackler 114, will be the pubic poster viewing along with judging by a panel of faculty members. At 12:30 pm, we will announce the finalist of the competition and serve pizza.

On Thursday, November 1 at 4 pm in the Sackler DeBlois Auditorium we will hold the Charlton Lecture and announce the winners of the poster competition. This year’s lecturer is Kit Pogliano, PhD, Professor and Dean of the Division of Biological Sciences at the University of California San Diego, American Academy of Microbiology Fellow, and co-founder Linnaeus Bioscience. She will be speaking on “How to build an endospore and accelerate antibacterial drug discovery”.

I encourage everyone to attend both the poster session on Wednesday morning to support their fellow students and the lecture on Thursday afternoon to hear this outstanding speaker and congratulate our winners.

One other event of note. This week is Wellness Week 2018 sponsored by the Student Wellness Office. See the Sackler calendar and The Goods for a number of great events and programs.
