Associate Dean's Message - August 6, 2018
Dear Sackler Community,
The past two weeks have seen some great activities and events across all levels of students. Jamie Maguire organized a great science outreach event for Josiah Quincy Upper School middle school students on July 27. At the high school level, the Teachers and High School Students program for high school research experience, organized by the Office of Multicultural Affairs (Joyce Sackey and Marlene Jreaswec), concluded on the 27th as well.
Last week we wrapped up the 10 week Building Diversity in Biomedical Sciences (BSBS) program which had 21 undergraduate students from across the country, Puerto Rico and Saudi Arabia working in labs. They had a very successful seminar and poster competition. Congratulations to our 6 finalists and Lindsay Ejoh from the University of Pittsburgh and the Raman Lab, and Olivia Ringham from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and the Ward Lab for winning the poster competition.
The week ended with the 5th Annual Tufts New England Case Competition(TUNECC). The winning team was the Cold Case Closers from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories with Avant Consulting Group from Rutgers University coming in second and Badger Business Solutions from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in third. Congratulations go out to the full TUNECC team for putting on a great event, especially Andrew Coleman. Ashlee Junier and Townsend Benard, and for all the teams who participated.
