Tufts University grants degrees four times a year: in August, November, February, and May but has only one commencement ceremony. This ceremony occurs in May and all graduates completing their studies during that academic year are encouraged to attend. Participating in Commencement Day is a wonderful way for you to celebrate your academic acheivements.
First Steps Toward Graduation
To ensure that the graduation process goes smoothly, students are encouraged to make an appointment with Associate Dean Kathryn Lange to review all graduation deadlines and degree requirements. Please schedule this appointment as soon as you receive permission to start writing your thesis or dissertation.
Before starting to write the thesis or dissertation, students should read the Guidelines for Preparation of the Master's Thesis and Doctoral Dissertation for specific information about formatting, style, fonts, and other required elements. Checking these instructions early in the process will save time in the end. This information can be found using the link on the Student Forms page.
Deadlines and Required Forms
Students can learn about the required graduation forms and the deadlines that apply for each of four graduation dates. In addition, it is a good idea for students to use the Graduation Checklist to keep track of where they are in the graduation process. Students should also familiarize themselves with the online thesis submission process using the link on the Student Forms page. Understanding what needs to be done and completing all the required forms before the deadlines will insure that your last days at the Sackler School go smoothly! Additional information can be found on the Student Forms page.
