The Sackler School encourages all students to apply for fellowships that provide stipend support. Fellowship application is an ideal way to learn about the granting process and can help sharpen scientific goals and writing skills. In addition, the ability to list a competitive fellowship as an honor on your curriculum vitae will provide a strong competitive advantage when you seek your next position. Students should discuss possible fellowship opportunities with their graduate program director and with their thesis advisor. Note that many of these programs do not provide fellowships that are equivalent to the Sackler School stipend. The school is committed to working with students who obtain fellowships to insure that awards are supplemented to the level of the full Sackler stipend.
Thesis advisers, program coordinators and department staff should be able to assist students with preparation of required budget information. The Sackler School office can also answer questions and direct students to faculty who have experience with particular funding agencies. Students and their advisors should take full advantage of this opportunity.
Fellowships are available from organizations sponsored by the federal government as well as private foundations. In addition to the information found on these pages, the following web-based resources provide additional informaton.
