Research Synopsis

My research focuses on methods for assessing and improving the quality of health care. A current study examines organizational factors associated with the effectiveness of hospital quality improvement activities. Other studies have examined the validity of quality measures, development of statistical benchmarks, structured consensus development on core quality measures, risk adjustment for comparative assessment, and a managed-care intervention to improve detection of substance-related problems. My earlier research examined variations in psychiatric practices and the appropriateness of clinical interventions.
