Research Synopsis

My laboratory uses single-molecule fluorescence methods to understand the function of biological macromolecules in terms of conformational dynamics. We also want to understand how other molecules and environmental factors regulate macromolecular function through the modulation of those dynamics. Specifically, we aim to elucidate the function of the macromolecules that underlie the mechanisms of viral replication. By applying emerging single-molecule imaging technologies that are yielding new insights into macromolecular function, we hope to contribute to the development of novel strategies for inhibition of viral replication, and prevention of viral infection.
