Research Synopsis

I am particularly interested in the role of the tobacco industry in creating the epidemic of smoking-related lung cancer. I am a strong advocate for lung cancer screening even though public policy organizations have recommended against it. My research indicates that uncritical extrapolation of assumptions that underlie randomized population trials to population-based randomized trials have been responsible for much of the controversy and uncertainty surrounding its use in early cancer detection and prevention.
