Research Synopsis

Our research interests relate directly to clinical quality, patient safety, medical management, infection control and the quality and patient safety strategies. By assessing experiences at Baystate Medical Center and for Baystate Medical Practices, we monitor the impact of physician practices on the quality of care. We are particularly interested in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and complications following surgical procedures. Other recent interests include assessing the impact that the increase in hospitalists has had on inpatient care, length of hospital stay and overall outcomes.
