Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a newly recognized global public health problem. CKD can lead to kidney failure, complications from decreased kidney function, and increased risk from cardiovascular disease. I am involved with research groups here at Tufts and around the world studying laboratory measures to estimate kidney function, the burden of chronic kidney disease, new therapies, and the development of clinical practice guidelines and public health approaches for chronic kidney disease.
