TEACRS Alumnus - 2014
I came to the TEACRS Program after completing my PhD in Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics at the University of California - Los Angeles. I conducted my research under the direction of Joan Mecsas, PhD, Associate Professor of Molecular Biology & Microbiology.
My work focused on the mechanism by which Yersinia adhesins confer binding specificity and preferential translocation into macrophages and neutrophils. A deeper understanding of this issue will increase our understanding of the way host - pathogen interaction is controlled.
As part of the TEACRS Program, I taught Microbiology at Bunker Hill Community College and developed a new laboratory module.
I have joined Sanofi-Aventis and will continue my research in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical area.
