The goal of my research is to determine how translesion polymerases, and Rev1 in particular, are involved in DNA repair synthesis that occurs at the initiation of homologous recombination. I have created a number of Rev1 domain-specific mutants to tease apart the mechanisms by which Rev1 coordinates homologous recombination repair synthesis. In addition, I am interested in other error-prone mechanisms of break repair, such as synthesis-dependent microhomology-mediated end joining.
