My field of research is in cornea immunology, focused on the role of plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) in the adaptive immune regulation during corneal inflammation. We use a mouse model for herpes simplex keratitis (HSK) and corneal suture placement to study the inflammatory response and how pDCs play a role in the modulation of the immune response. Dr. Hamrah’s lab is also specialized in corneal in vivo imaging and my project also includes imaging of draining lymph nodes by using in vivo multiphoton microscopy (IV-MPM) to study the cell-cell interactions during the priming of the adaptive immune response associated with corneal diseases.
