The brain expresses many cell adhesion molecules during development and adulthood, many of which are dynamically regulated in the synapse. It is currently incompletely understood if and how these cell adhesion molecules act together to regulate synapse formation and plasticity. My research interests focus on 1) how cell adhesion molecules, like SynCAM1, regulate synapse remodeling during activity and 2) how the activity-dependent remodeling of synapse composition regulates neuronal connectivity.
