Binding site recognition by Listeria monocytogenes CodY. CodY, a global transcription factor present in Gram-positive bacterium, has been shown to regulate a variety of genes, including metabolic and virulence genes in Listeria monocytogenes, a pathogenic Gram-positive bacterium. To understand the mechanistic basis for CodY-dependent gene regulation I am identifying the global occupancy sites of CodY in the L. monocytogenes genome. To achieve this, I am determining relative genome-wide in-vitro DNA affinity at various concentrations of CodY. These CodY binding sites are likely to reveal multiple mechanisms by which CodY regulates genes under different physiological conditions.
