I am working on the role of tubular endoplasmic reticulum in supporting the intracellular growth of Legionella pneumophila in macrophages. I have demonstrated that 3 proteins encoded by the bacterium target the host cell protein reticulon to promote rearrangement of endoplasmic reticulum-associated proteins about the bacterial replication vacuole and am working to understand the mechanisms underlying this interaction.
