My project focuses on dissecting the interaction of bone marrow-derived cells, in particular plasmacytoid dendritic cells, corneal nerve plexus, and corneal blood vessels. I am looking at the role of plasmacytoid dendritic cells in degeneration and regeneration of corneal nerves and how such role can be modulated through TLR-7 and TLR-9, two intracellular receptors expressed by plasmacytoid dendritic cells. Also, I am exploring the role of plasmacytoid dendritic cells in corneal neovascularization.
