Neuronal inhibitory control in the central nervous system is mediated in large part by GABAergic. Any alteration to the balance of inhibition and excitation contributes to neuronal dysfunction, and ultimately pathogenesis. As a member of the AstraZeneca-Tufts laboratory for Basic and Translational Neuroscience, I am exploring the role of GABAergic signaling in neurodegenerative and developmental disorders in an effort to develop novel therapeutics.
