My research is focused on the characterization of the C-type lectin receptor CD209a, a paralog of human DC-SIGN. CD209a plays a critical role in the differentiation of Th17 cells which are required for pathogenic schistosomiasis. By understanding the molecular mechanisms involving CD209a we will gain insights into the function of this critical pattern recognition receptor.
