Exposure to carcinogens in the environment has been implicated in the increased incidence of breast cancer. My research focuses on elucidating the mechanisms of carcinogenesis and importantly, on identifying miRNA markers that can be used to indicate exposure. The long-term goal is to use the markers to develop a test to determine which environmental compounds are leading to the increase in breast cancer in our population.
