Hyperlipidemia can lead to problems like development of arteriosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases that accounts for more than half million deaths in the USA alone. Additionally, around of 50% of diabetic patients are presumed to be hyperlipidemic; these patients possessed high effector cell function and higher inflammatory cytokines leading to chronic inflammation and impaired wound healing. With my project, I try to understand the role that hyperlipidemia has with impairing angiogenesis on a nonhealing wound and how the adaptive immunity is altered.
