My research focuses on the changes that occur in the neural circuitry governing metabolic homeostasis during pathological conditions, such as obesity and diabetes. My project focuses on hypothalamic control of feeding behaviors and glucose homeostasis. Our lab employs a variety of cutting edge techniques, including optogenetics, chemogenetics, viral genetic mouse tools, electrophysiology, and advanced microscopy approaches. The goal of my research is to find alternative therapeutic approaches in treating diabetes and obesity by learning more about the neural circuits involved in these pathological conditions.
