Activity dependent structural plasticity is a key property contributing to neuronal circuit formation and physiology. The determinants of neuronal morphology include neuronal activity, cell-cell interactions, and secreted signaling factors. The mechanisms through which these determinants interact to influence structural plasticity remain in many cases unclear . To this end, I am interested in investigating the role of the signaling molecule Farp1 downstream of the semaphorin/plexin signaling and the synaptic adhesion molecule SynCAM1.
