I am investigating the role of a novel tumor suppressor in breast cancer, which has an association with methylated RNA. Thus it could have a role in regulating splicing and preventing oncogenic splice variants from being produced. To learn more about the mechanisms by which the protein may prevent cancer, and the mechanisms behind how cancer develops when it is absent, I am using CRISPR knockout cell lines, co-immunoprecipitation, growth assays, and hydrogels to characterize various 3D structures that form.
