Previous work has shown that T cells play an important role in the pathophysiology of heart failure, infiltrating into the left ventricle and contributing to cardiac remodeling. Some evidence also suggests that T cells express natriuretic peptide receptors. Natriuretic peptides help mitigate pressure overload in the LV by stimulating natriuresis, but their role in T cell recruitment during HF has not been explored. My project examined the expression of natriuretic peptide receptors by various T cell subtypes.
