Osteoarthritis affects 33.6% of adults over the age of 65 and can cause serious disability, yet little is known about its direct causes. Using both an in vivo surgical model in mice and in vitro techniques, I studied the molecular pathways involved in the development of osteoarthritis and the cartilage damage that it causes. My goal was to help to identify molecules that could be used to prevent or help rescue cartilage damage.

I am now completing the fourth year of medical school.
