Second Portal Applications
The Second Portal Program gives students already enrolled at Tufts Medical School the opportunity to switch to the MD/PhD Program.
The Admissions committee will review the transcripts, letters and competitive test scores submitted as part of the original TUSM application process that are on file in the TUSM Admissions office. The following information must also be submitted:
- Transcripts and evaluations from TUSM for all completed semesters of study.
- A letter of recommendation describing the applicant's qualifications for the MD/PhD program based on a research experience undertaken during medical school.
- A letter of recommendation describing the applicant's qualifications for the MD/PhD program based on a research experience undertaken prior to entry into medical school.
- A personal statement (one page maximum) explaining the motivation and goals for MD/PhD training.
Applications for the coming year are generally due in the fall and should be turned in to the Sackler School office, Sackler 813. Notification of acceptance occurs in the late fall of the year of application. Applicants may be scheduled for interviews with the admissions committee. Note that applications may be considered at other times depending on the status of the applicant.
