I am investigating how gram-negative bacterial pathogens establish infections in lungs. In particular, I am interested in the mechanisms by which gram-negative pathogens that employ type III secretion systems target pneumocytes, neutrophils and macrophages in lungs and how effector proteins secreted by these systems destroys the normal functions of these cells.
