Single cell analysis provides information about the biology of a cell  that is masked by measuring the average from thousands of cells. My project involves developing microfluidic systems to select and isolate single cells of interest and then analyze DNA, mRNA, and/or proteins from these cells by single molecule detection techniques. This technology will then be used to study single cells that result in genetic disorders.
