Morphogenesis of the complex branched structures found in the breast is poorly understood. I am studying the effects of various hormones on the regulation of morphogenesis during breast organogenesis and pregnancy. Using a 3D culture model, I will attempt to emulate the components required for the formation of ductal structures from breast-derived cells. Ultimately, I hope to better understand the interactions between epithelium, stroma, and extracellular components during ductal morphogenesis.
