Spontaneous tumors in pet dogs offer a unique model of the human cancers that they resemble. Therefore, comparing the molecular makeup of these tumors is essential. Currently I am working to determine the significance of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway in canine osteosarcoma and hemangiosarcoma cell lines. I am also working to test the effectiveness of several PI3K small molecule inhibitors on these cells.
