Mammalian Genetics at JAX Web Site

Mammalian Genetics at JAX is a new offering that brings together the Genetics PhD Program at the Sackler School and faculty from The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine. This track focuses on in depth training in mammalian genetics and provides students with the opportunity to take courses at both Sackler and The Jackson Laboratory. Students in this track will conduct their dissertation research in Bar Harbor.

Trainees begin their studies in the first week of July at The Jackson Laboratory, prior to the start of usual academic year, which begins in September. Students will take their first course during the summer and conduct a research rotation under the direction of one of our faculty based in Bar Harbor. Housing will be provided by The Jackson Laboratory during this period.

The remainder of the first year will feature additional course work and research rotations, conducted at both the Sackler School and in Bar Harbor. Students in the Mammalian Genetics Track will select a thesis adviser at The Jackson Laboratory and begin their dissertation work in Bar Harbor in the summer that begins their second year.

Mammalian Genetics at JAX is co-directed by Erik Selsing, PhD, Director of the Graduate Program in Genetics and Mary Ann Handel, PhD, Senior Research Scientist, The Jackson Laboratory.
