Jim Schwob, MD, PhD
The Tufts MSTP Program is directed by Jim Schwob, MD, PhD. Dr Schwob received his BS degree in Psychology from the University of Iowa and his MD/PhD from Washington University. After internship and residency in Anatomic Pathology at Washington University and Barnes Hospital, he completed his research training in neuroscience with Dr David Gottlieb at the same institution. He joined the faculty at SUNY Upstate Medical Center, where he served as Chair of the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology and also directed the school's MD/PhD training program. Dr Schwob joined the faculty of Tufts University School of Medicine as Chair of the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology in 2000.
Dr Schwob's laboratory focuses on the molecular mechanisms of olfactory stem cell function. He participates in the graduate program in Cell, Molecular & Developmental Biology, Immunology, and has directed the training of numerous Ph.D. students and fellows.
