Clinical & Translational Science Program Web Site
The goal of the Clinical and Translational Science Program is to positively impact the translation of research into improved clinical care and public health. Our students are primarily physicians and other doctorally prepared clinicians (e.g. DDS, PharmD, DMD) who have completed clinical training and plan to become independent investigators in general, specialty, or subspecialty clinical fields. Some trainees come to our program after completing advanced biomedical or clinical degrees
The PhD Program in Clinical and Translational Science is coordinated with the MS in Clinical and Translational Science. Unlike other Sackler Programs, trainees complete course work in the MS Program and must pass a qualifying examination to enter the PhD Program.
Trainees in the PhD program can select from six different areas of concentration: Bench-Bedside Translational Research; Clinical Investigation; Epidemiology and Biostatistics; Evidence-based Medicine; Health Services and Outcomes Research; and Medical Informatics. Our diverse faculty exposes students to depth in each of these areas and allows them to pursue projects that match their clinical interests.
When our trainees complete our program they are well-positioned for careers in academic medicine or other academic positions involving patient-focused investigation.
