ISP Journal Club
First year ISP students participate in a weekly journal club that covers topics under study in first year courses. The course aims to train students in the critical reading of the scientific literature and to provide opportunities for students to hone their presentation skills. Brent Cochran facilitates the ISP Journal Club.
CMP Journal Club
Second- and third-year CMP students participate in a journal club facilitated by Jerry Faust. Each week one student selects an article of interest to present. During the ensuing group discussion, students are encouraged to critically evaluate the hypotheses, methods and conclusions of the article.
The course provides students with the opportunity to improve their presentation skills in a small and familiar environment. It also provides training in the essential skill of critical reading of the scientific literature from a variety of fields.
