Students apply to the Biochemistry Graduate Program through the Integrated Studies Program (ISP), which coordinates admissions for Biochemistry, Cell, Molecular and Developmental Biology, Cellular and Molecular Physiology, and Neuroscience. Sackler students typically receive financial aid that includes tuition remission, a student stipend, and health insurance.
Prospective students must have completed a minimum of one year of college level biology, mathematics and inorganic and organic chemistry. Although not required, successful completion of courses in biochemistry, cell biology and genetics are considered assets for graduate studies in biomedical science. The Graduate Record Examination is required, but a subject test is not. Additional information about application documents, selection criteria, and international applicant requirements can be found on the PhD admissions page.
Applicants are selected on the basis of undergraduate transcripts, research experience, letters of recommendation, and GRE scores. Following a review of applications, competitive candidates are invited to visit Tufts to meet faculty and current students. The application is completed on line. Details about the application process and important deadlines can be found on the Sackler School admissions pages.
