I hope to reduce the impact of stroke on individuals and society, particularly through the pre-hospital and in-hospital attenuation of stroke severity and the prevention of first and recurrent strokes. I am particularly interested in the potential of silent brain infarction and microhemorrhages as biomarkers and opportunities to guide preventive treatments. I am also interested in the diagnosis, management, and long term consequences of stroke in young adults, a group with an extended duration of disability and exposure to complications of stroke.
