Throughout the viral life cycle, herpesviruses undergo two budding events where the capsid/virus is trafficked through membranes. One occurs at the nucleus and the second occurs at the trans-Golgi network. My project is focused on studying the nuclear egress complex (NEC) which is comprised of UL31 and UL34.
