The long-term goal of our lab is to use multidisciplinary technologies to understand the synaptic plasticity and neural circuits of metabolic homeostasis, as well as their contributions to human diseases like obesity and diabetes. My project focuses on the brain-based mechanisms of glucose homeostasis. I am employing mouse and viral genetic methods, optogenetics, pharmcoogenetics, and advanced imaging approach, to characterize a neural circuit emanating from the hypothalamus to control blood glucose.
